Get Involved
Since its inception in 2003, Bay of Islands Sailing Week has always been a community volunteer-run event, and we’re proud to call it a regatta by sailors, for sailors.
The regatta has a dedicated committee that plans and prepares year-round to make the event a success each year, as well as a volunteer army of over 60 people who freely give their time and energy during the regatta itself.
Whether you’re keen to be out on the water or behind the scenes on shore, there’s a role for everyone. Below, you can read about just a few of the ways volunteers get involved.
Join as a committee member
As people naturally move on, we’re always looking for new committee members to help plan and deliver the regatta. Many of our current team members have given years of service and are ready to pass the torch.
Previously, committee members mostly came from the four local Bay of Islands yacht clubs — but now, with most meetings held via Zoom, we welcome fresh perspectives from across New Zealand.
If you’re passionate about sailing, events, or community-led projects, and want to help shape the future of Bay of Islands Sailing Week, we’d love to hear from you — no matter where you’re based. Fill in the form below, or contact:
